Scholarship
Dr. Kerrie Schattler’s scholarly accomplishments and research contributions in transportation engineering have received national and state awards/recognition for their impact on highway safety and design. She has been successful in collaborating in over $3,000,000 in external grants and directly managing over $1,500,000 while at Bradley University. She has been a principal investigator (PI) on 21 research grants and Technical Advisor or Key Personnel on 6 grants, engaged and supported 98 undergraduate and graduate students financially, mentored and invited 10 faculty to collaborate with her in research, and has led several national training workshops. The impact of her work in the field of transportation engineering has been truly transformative. The results of her research conducted at Bradley University are being used to:
- Support changes in federal transportation practice manuals
- Modify highway design policy
- Implement new traffic signal practices
- Assist with transportation planning decisions in Chicago
- Save lives on our streets and highways due to reductions in motor vehicle crashes
- Improve the pavement quality on Illinois roads.
She has authored over 40 journal papers and conference proceedings, presented at 21 national and international conferences, and authored 25 technical research reports. The results and impact of her research have earned several prestigious technical awards and recognitions.
