MFA, Bradley University
MA, University of DallasBiography
Liz Johnson received her Master of Fine Arts degree with distinction from Bradley University on a full-ride assistantship, where she primarily worked in cast bronze. Her recent work explores abstract, organic forms that reflect pivotal moments in her life and the emotions tied to them.
As a graduate student at Bradley, Liz taught rapid prototyping and intermediate and advanced sculpture courses. She also helped write a successful $30,000 grant for the Donovan Sculpture Garden in Peoria, contributed to the creation of the life-size sculpture of Major Robert Henry Lawrence Jr. (now installed on Bradley’s campus), exhibited work at the Peoria Food and Wine Festival and the Studios on Sheridan, and simultaneously worked full-time as a Digital Marketing Specialist of Social Media for OSF HealthCare. She is deeply grateful for her time at Bradley—especially for the opportunity to continue teaching.
In 2022, Liz earned her Master of Arts from the University of Dallas, also on a full-ride assistantship. While in Texas, she exhibited sculptures throughout North Texas, joined the Texas Sculpture Association, and participated in an iron pour at Texas Woman’s University in Denton. She served as the Sculpture Graduate Assistant and Gallery Assistant for the Haggerty Art Gallery at the University of Dallas.
Liz also holds a Bachelor of Science in Studio Art with a double major in Graphic Design and Sculpture, and a minor in Marketing from Bradley University (2018). During her undergraduate years, she exhibited work at the Studios on Sheridan and the Contemporary Art Center, and received both the Kottemann Endowed Scholarship and the Fine and Performing Arts
Her first life-size sculpture was accepted into the 2019 Peoria Sculpture Walk, where it earned the People’s Choice Award.
Her award-winning sculpture Prometheus I is currently on display at the Donovan Sculpture Garden in Peoria. Liz continues to support the garden as a volunteer graphic designer and was one of the first artists to exhibit work on its grounds.
