Starting in Fall 2015, Bradley University will be offering a business law minor.
The new minor will be designed to help students understand the social, ethical, political and cultural foundations of law and how law impacts almost every business decision.
Students from all majors will receive critical analytical skills and will become better prepared to identify and manage potential legal problems in the practice of their profession or career. Students who plan to enroll in law school will be exposed to various areas of law and will become better prepared to excel not only in law school, but their career afterwards.
The minor will be open to students of all majors. It will be 15 total credit hours; however, students whose majors are within the Foster College of Business will only need to complete 12 credits from classes not used to fulfill major requirements.
Some of the courses needed to fulfill the minor may also satisfy the university’s general education requirement. The number of courses available in the minor allows flexibility for tailoring the program to the student’s major or academic needs.
The common course for all students within the minor is BLW 342, an introduction to the fundamentals of law as they relate to business, including social, equitable and ethical concerns.
Students interested in the minor should submit their names to the Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Law Department support Cyndi Kosinski ([email protected]) in the Department of Entrepreneurship, Technology and Law. Those students will be contacted before the beginning of the 2015 Fall semester.
Associate Professor Dr. Tanya Marcum, Pre-Law Center Director Nicole Meyer, and Professor Dr. Sandra Perry will host a meet and greet with prospective students for the minor on December 3 at 5 p.m. in Baker 255. Perry and Marcum will serve as the minor advisors.
