Management information systems major Samantha Johnson ’17 will cap her Bradley experience with a semester abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. The semester will give her a unique perspective on European business as she prepares for a professional career.
Johnson, a St. Louis native, will take courses through the Danish Institute for Study Abroad and will live with a Danish family for the semester to fully immerse herself in the culture.
“The business classes that I take there are very hands-on and will allow me to see exactly what types of strategies European businesses have,” she said. “It will be very beneficial for me to be able to gain perspective on how European businesses run and then use that knowledge back here.”
In addition to gaining greater cultural understanding, Johnson hopes her experience building strong networks on campus will help her develop new contacts overseas.
“I’ve learned how important it is to foster connections here,” she said. “I’ve been given opportunities to make those connections with faculty and students, and I want to continue that in Denmark and throughout my professional career.”
When she is not planning for her trip abroad, Johnson is an active member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, Chorale, and Kappa Delta Sorority. She is also a resident advisor on campus, a Bradley STAR, and a member of Foster BEST.
