Communication Studies
As a Communication Studies major, you’ll explore the many ways communication shapes how people share ideas, tell stories, and influence the world around them. You’ll build a personalized path by choosing courses from areas like advertising and public relations, organizational communication, journalism, sports communication, and media production.
Along the way, you’ll strengthen your oral, written, and digital communication skills while learning how to craft clear, ethical messages and connect with specific audiences. These experiences prepare you for careers in corporate settings, nonprofit organizations, and media industries—or for graduate study.
Experiential Learning and Networking Opportunities
You’ll gain real-world experience through communication-related internships with organizations such as Caterpillar Inc., The Walt Disney Company, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Along the way, you can produce content for student media, contribute to broadcasts with ESPN/BravesVision, and attend professional conferences where you’ll connect with industry leaders. You may also collaborate with faculty on research projects and complete a capstone experience that helps you build a professional portfolio. Together, these opportunities allow you to apply what you learn in the classroom while developing the skills, experience, and connections that will support your career after graduation.
