About

The Academic Success Center (ASC), located on the third floor of the Cullom-Davis Library, brings together students, faculty and staff campus-wide to develop initiatives aimed at maximizing student potential. Resources such as tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and academic coaching are centralized and delivered in a supportive environment that encourages students’ growth and development as learners.

The Academic Success Center is committed to empowering all Bradley students to achieve success by enhancing their lifelong learning skills in collaborative, inclusive, and supportive environments with peers and professionals.

Academic Services

Tutoring is a free, peer-based resource available to Bradley students. The tutoring program focuses on providing support for many 100 and 200 level STEM courses. We invest a great deal of time into the program to ensure our practices are compliant with the standards set by the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). We work closely with the faculty across multiple academic departments to recruit tutors in subject areas where support is needed, and we contact students directly if they meet the criteria for an open position. Those messages are sent to your Bradley email if you fit the criteria for an opening at the time. We invite you to attend tutoring in the Academic Success Center on the third floor of the Cullom-Davis Library.

Language Tutoring

Located in Bradley Hall 310, the WLC – World Languages and Cultures Center offers space for student and faculty collaboration. It is equipped with a mobile TV and a region-free DVD player. We have a variety of materials for student instructional use including audio files, CD-ROMs, videos and DVDs, magazines, dictionaries and newspapers.

Through academic coaching, students can identify and address barriers to academic success. Academic coaching takes the form of one-on-one meetings with ASC staff members who will work with students to identify strategies and resources that can be used to be a more effective learner. Academic coaching appointments are collaborative and intended to help students identify and maximize their strengths.

Professional Academic Coaching

To schedule a one-on-one appointment with an academic coach, please follow the instructions below:

  • 1. Log in to Navigate360 (bradley.navigate.eab.com)
  • 2. Click Appointments and then Schedule an Appointment (blue button)
  • 3. Choose Academic Coaching
  • 4. Select Academic Coaching again
  • 5. Click Find Available Time
  • Choose a Date and Time that works for you
  • Or Who Would You Like to Meet to select a specific advisor
  • 6. Select your Meeting Type:
  • Choose In Person
  • Or Choose Virtual
  • 7. Add any comments or questions to help the coach prepare for your meeting
  • 8. Click Schedule to confirm

Important: If you don’t receive a confirmation email, your appointment was not successfully scheduled.

Many students experience academic challenges at some point during their college career. At Bradley, undergraduate students on academic recovery for the first time are required to participate in the Academic Recovery Program (ARP). It is designed to help students regain good academic standing by providing guidance, support, and accountability throughout the semester.

Program Requirements

Participants are required to complete the following mandatory steps:

  • Students will automatically be enrolled in AEP 115 (0 credit hours) and will be assigned a specific coach.  Their information will be available in MyBradley.  Students will also receive an email giving them the information they need to get started.
  • Complete a required online Canvas course that explains academic recovery expectations and program requirements. 
  • Attend a meeting with an assigned coach within the first two weeks of the semester to discuss goals and determine how often to meet throughout the term.
  • Early in the semester, submit semester grade requirements to your coach through your Bradley email.
  • Submit a post-midterm grade report.
  • Attend two additional meetings with your ARP Coach or schedule meetings whenever you need support.

Course Grade

At the end of the semester, you will receive a Pass or Fail grade for AEP 115 based on completing the required program components. This grade becomes part of your academic record but does not affect your GPA.

Your Coach

Your coach is an additional resource to help you succeed. They will work with you to identify challenges, develop effective academic strategies, and connect you with campus resources. Because every student’s situation is different, meetings are personalized to help you meet your individual goals.

What Does Academic Recovery Mean?

Students with a cumulative Bradley GPA below 2.0 are placed on academic recovery. To remain enrolled at Bradley, first-time recovery students must either:

  • Earn a semester GPA of 2.25 or higher, or
  • Raise their cumulative GPA to 2.0 or above.

If You Are Dismissed

Students who are dismissed must submit a petition for reinstatement to be reviewed by the Academic Review Board before returning to Bradley. Information about this process can be discussed with your ARP Coach.

The educational environment at Bradley is demanding, and developing good academic skills will result in academic success. From time management and goal setting, to test anxiety and preparing for exams, our workshops can help you establish strong habits that can enhance your learning and help you to balance the numerous demands of your varied coursework.

We also offer workshops and presentations in classes upon request from the instructor, pending staff availability to present during your requested time.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a peer-led academic assistance program meant to improve students’ academic performance and increase retention. SI Leaders facilitate a peer-to-peer learning environment in weekly study sessions.

Supplemental Instruction is different from tutoring in that it is an interactive group learning environment where challenging materials are reviewed. It helps students develop study habits while getting to know their classmates. Supplemental Instruction is available for select classes. Schedules are subject to change, so please bookmark the schedule linked above. Supported courses are subject to change on a term-to-term basis.

Session Schedules

Bradley University has partnered with EAB to enhance student success through the Navigate360 application. This platform aims to improve retention and graduation rates on college campuses, including Bradley University.

Navigate360 combines technology, research, and predictive analytics to help instructors, advisors and administrators promote student degree completion and life success. The platform provides advisors and other pertinent departments with a software system that allows them to identify students who may need additional support. Students benefit from a coordinated and consistent platform to access academic advising and other student services.

Students

Bradley University students can access Navigate360 through Navigate360 Student or by downloading the mobile app through Apple or Google. Once downloaded, be sure to login with your @mail.bradley.edu and complete the short intake survey to get started.

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff can log in to Navigate360 using single sign-on credentials at https://bradley.campus.eab.com. Access to Navigate360 should be automatic for all advisors and instructors. Any employee who needs to request additional access should submit the Request for Access form. Note that permissions are based on employee position.

The Bradley Writing Center

The Bradley Writing Center is a free resource to all Bradley students. We are located on the 3rd floor of the Library, in Rooms 311 and 312 of the Academic Success Center. We offer in-person and virtual appointments, as well as asynchronous Assistance By Email Reviews and Quick Question help with writing tasks for all disciplines.

NOTE: The Writing Center will be closed during all campus recesses. These hours may be subject to change due to occasional tutor absences. These changes will be avoided whenever possible.

In-Person and Google Meet Appointments

We encourage students to make appointments in advance. We do accept walk-ins, but scheduled appointments will take priority. Students can schedule appointments for 30 or 60 minutes and are limited to 60 minutes of assistance per day.

Asynchronous Help – Assistance By Email (ABE) Reviews

This option allows all Bradley students to submit writing assignment drafts and assignment sheets for writing consultant feedback without having to schedule an appointment. ABE reviews will typically be returned within 24-48 hours, so be sure to plan ahead. In addition, please be aware that return times may be longer during high-demand points in the semester (including midterms and finals). If your wait for feedback will be longer, we will keep you updated on when you can expect to receive your review.

The Writing Center also offers a wide variety of resources and support for faculty to help supplement instruction and strengthen students’ writing skills.

Classroom Commercials

The Writing Center offers five-minute in-class presentations to promote our services. Upon request, one of our Writing Consultants will visit your class to introduce them to the resources the Writing Center has to offer and how to use them, which is often helpful in encouraging students to use the Writing Center.

Class Support

The Writing Center is also happy to offer support to professors upon request for specific courses. This supplementary instruction and support can take place in your class or in the Academic Success Center and can focus on any content that might best meet the needs of the class. We have ready-made workshops in research, APA, MLA, overcoming writing challenges, professional email etiquette, and writing college papers in general. We can also tailor content to your specific discipline.
