Transferring Course Credits

There are two separate processes for transferring courses to Bradley:

  • Transferring Bradley Core Curriculum credit (BCC transfer)
  • Transferring Department credit (Major, Minor and/or Elective transfer)

For either process, it is essential to have your courses pre-approved to transfer before you take the course. To do that, you will need to fill out a Transfer Work Approval Form. When complete, this must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office.

If you plan to transfer the course to the BCC, you must check the Transfer Guide below to be sure that the course will transfer for BCC credit.

Courses sometimes are approved for Department credit that do not meet the learning objectives for the BCC. For instance, Bradley has a unique approach to History 203 “American History and Global Systems to 1877” and History 204 “American History and Global Systems since 1877.” Both courses qualify for Humanities (HU) credit or Global Systems (GP GS) credit in the BCC.

Many courses transfer to Bradley that count for either HIS 203 or 204, but which have no global content. Those courses do fulfill the History-specific learning objectives, so they are in the Department Transfer Guides; but they do not fulfill the Global Systems Area of Inquiry in the BCC, only the Humanities requirement, and thus they do not appear in the BCC Core Guides.

If you are transferring a course for a major or minor program, or for elective credit, fill out only the first half of the Transfer Work Approval Form. You will need two signatures: one from your advisor or the Department Chair for your major, and the other from your college Dean’s office.

If the course is not listed in the Transfer Guide below, you will need a third signature from the Chair of the Department for the course (e.g. the Biology Chair for a BIO course, the Math Chair for a MTH course). This is to ensure that the course will count for specific Bradley credit.
